Last night I took a 3′ x 5′ Cleveland Indians banner out of my garage and hung it on the front of my house. I wanted everyone to know that I stand by this team – good or bad.
I know it’s been another long season without the support of an owner who cares.
I know that Shapiro and Antonetti are just mouthpieces.
I know that Manny Acta is a B level manager.
I know that Grady Sizemore was just a pipe dream.
I know that our starting pitching – with or without Fausto – was going to be tested.
I know our decidedly left-leaning batting order was never going to produce a future hall of famer.
I know all of that. But I still believed. Maybe I am a homer. Maybe I’ve seen enough miracles to know anything is possible. Maybe I’m an idiot. But I still believed.
In fact, even now. Even after last night. I still believe.
50 down, 40 to go. Never say never.
